this afternoon i was sitting
there waiting for
him to search for
this, when a guy two rows behind me bent forward and asked
"excuse me, do you speak english?". i smiled and pointed out that we where both sitting in a theater waiting for the english movie to start. he gently returned the smile and asked if i also spoke german. after me confirming that as well, he handed me his mobile phone asking if i would be so kind to switch his mailbox setup from german to english, which i gladly did.
we talked for a short while, before the movie started and he said that he was an ice hokey player currently with the hamburg freezers. he also told me that he was a franko-canadian and had a wife and two daughters who where coming to germany in two weeks. it was a really nice conversation and he seemed quite happy to be able to talk to someone in his own language.
after the (by the way hillarious) movie he asked if i could show him the way to the hamburg rothenbaum as he was supposed to meet a friend there. i offered him a lift and he gladly accepted.
before i dropped him off, he handed me a piece of paper with his name and his phone number while saying
"if you ever need tickets for a game or want to catch another movie just give me a call - i´d be delighted." - he then shook my hand, smiled and thanked me again for the lift.
what a nice guy, i said to myself while driving home,
he probably cannot be such a good player as he is not really that tall and has such a nice and friendly personality.
boy. was. i. wrong..
any
freezers fans out there?
